J. E. WAGNER, the popular engineer of the Pocahontas Coal and Coke Co., was in the city thi s week on business, as was MR. WRIGHT, superintendent of the Collleries Company. (I believe to be James Edward Wagner, a Civil Engineer, s/o David Nicecwander Waggoner & Mariah E. Deaton. J. E. Wagner married Frances L. ‘Fannie’ Bailey) The seven month old baby of MR. and MRS. LEWIS MATHEWS (sic), Thompson Valley, died Wednesday afternoon. MR. L. G. S. COMPTON came to town yesterday morning for a casket for the little baby. Burial took place yesterday afternoon. MRS. MATHEWS (sic), the child’s mother, has been quite ill for some time, but is thought to be slowly improving. (I BELIEVE, the good neighbor, to be Leonides G.
