Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Baugh and family of Bluefield WV spent the day with Mr. Baugh's mother, who has been sick for several weeks, returning Sunday p.m. Mrs. Elizabeth Burton had on last Sunday the 5th, her 73rd birthday. 8 of her 9 children ate picnic lunch with her. Ella was the only one absent. She is in school at Athens. All enjoyed the day. Those at home were: J. C. Burton, Elkhorn, WV; L. E., Bluefield Va.; Mrs. C.G. Jones, Mrs R.C. Cooper, Mrs. E. C. McFarland, Rosa, Ada, and Marvin. Mr. and Mrs. U.J. Shaffer spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Cooper last Sunday a week ago, returning Sunday pm. Mr. John Blackwell and family, of Bluefield Va. spent several days with Mrs. C. E. Burton this week. Mrs. Sallie Buchanan returned to her home at Gratton from an extended visit to her sister in Mo. also with her niece, Mrs. Blanche Cook, of Davy, WV, Mrs. Cook's daughter, Freda, Accompanied her through the entire trip. Mr. Clarence Yost, Of Keystone, and family are spending some time with homefolks here. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bourne and son, Will, are on a pleasure trip to Norfolk and other eastern cities this week. Pounding Mill- Aug 8. Mrs. Hurley McGee and son, Billy, Mrs. Rex Steele and son, Billy and Mrs. Henry Christian and baby, Clytus were shopping in Richlands, today. Mrs. Hallie McGee, Miss Susie Mulkey and Mr. C.T. Collins are shpping in Bluefield today. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Steele were dinner guests of their daughter, Mrs. John B. Gillespie and family on Sunday, Miss Pearl McGuire was an afternoon caller. Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Ringstaff are adding to two more rooms to their residence. Miss Carroll Lawson, Maxwell, is visiting Mrs. E. E. McGee and Miss Janie Ringstaff. Dr. and Mrs. Rex Steele and Billy, returned Sunday night from Floyd where they visited relatives. "Doc" attended the metting at V.P. I. several days. Miss Mary B. Gillespie returned the last of the week from Wellsburg WV where she visited her cousin, Mrs. G. M. Lewis, accompanied by Mrs. A. G. St. Clair and sister, Miss Ollie Kate Brittain and Barnes Gillepsie Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ringstaff, of Keystone, W.V. visited parents Mrs. Elvie McGee and Mr. and Mrs. John Ringstaff Sunday. Miss Winnie Myers has returned home, after spending a few weeks with her sister, Mrs. McDorton, of Sandy Huff, WV. Mr and Mrs. Robert Petts had the following relatives to dinner Monday: Mrs. Lou McGuire, Mr and Mrs. Ed. McGuire, and 3 children and a cousin, Mrs. Estelle Wallace, New Castle, Viginia, and Mrs. W. B. Steele, of this place. The New Castle folds made a number of calls to Cedar Bluff, Mr. and Mrs. Ed McGuire, Miss Pearl McGuire, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Catron. They returned home Tuesday and visited their aunt and cousin, Mrs. Tom Steele and family, Bluefield, Va. enroute. Mr. and Mrs. W.A Christian and two daughters were shopping in Cedar Bluff, Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Christian have the following visitors: Mrs. D. C. Jackson, Mrs. E.L. Jackson and children, Miss Catherine Steel, all of Norfolk Va. Miss Lucille Lovell has returned to her aunt's, Mrs. Henry Robinette after a visit to Indian. Mrs. Margaret Griffith and son and daughter, Blaine and Miss Mildren, spent Friday night with their mother and grandmother, Mrs. Martha Sparks and son, Norman, on their way to Carnettsonvill, Ky., where they take charge of the club house for the Ritter Lumber company, a job of 10 or 15 years. Miss Maggie Bruster accompanied her.
