Miss Eva Spotts, of Richmond, who is so much admired by her Tazewell friends is in the city. She brings sunshine with her. Rev. J.E. Naff, the new pastor will arrive tomorrow, and occupy the pulpit of the Presbyterian church Sunday and Sunday night. Mrs. R.J. Prichard and her charming little daughter, Lucy, after a visit of several weeks to Col. May's family, left Friday for her home in Louisa, KY. Dr. O'Keeffe the zealous Mason, accompanied by Mr. J.K. Anderson, spent several days last week, attending an encampment of Knights Templar, at Marion. Mrs. A.J. May, Jr. who is a charming hostess gave a thoroughly enjoyed cobweb party last Friday evening in honor of her friend Miss Dora Vinson, of Ky. George W. St. Clair Esq. of the Tazewell bar, has driven four stakes in the ground near the Baptist church, and that simple circumstances has set the gossips to guessing what it means. Mrs. Joseph Stras and two children returned to town Tuesday from Salem, to gladden the hearts of her many friends. Mrs. S. seems much pleased with her new home in Salem. She will remain in Tazewell two weeks. Contractor T. D. Wells has about completed the residence of Mr. W. G. Harrisson in the east end of town, and it is a striking example of his taste and skill. It is a departure from the usual style of Tazewell architecture and could hardly be more attractive and excellently furnished. Mr. and Mrs. J. Tate Greever and a few friends were given a handsome supper Wednesday evening at the hospitable residence of Blair B. Greever, Esq. the father of the groom. Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Greever are noted for their elegant hospitality; on this occasion they surpassed their usual success. Married, at noon, Wednesday last, at the residence of A.J. May, Jr., Mr. J. Tate Greever, one of our society young men, to Miss Dora Vinson, of Louisa Ky, who is one of East Kentucky's most popular young ladies. The bride was a visitor here last season to her relatives family, Col. A.J. May and made many warm friends during her stay. We congratulate our friend Tate in securing so charming a help meet, and congratulate Tazewell in the addition of so worthy a lady citizen. May the happy couple enjoy all the sweets of married life and avoid all the evils. May the roses bloom, and every thorn be secreted, during their journey through life. Died, Oct. 14, 1891 at the house of his son, George W. Gillespie, Esq., Thomas H. Gillespie, Esq. aged 79 years. Married, Mr. J.S.S. Higginbotham, of Knob, and one of Tazewell's popular citizens and a clever gentleman, was married last week in Washington City to Mrs. H.A. Hannah of Bluefield.
