V.L. and Moses Sexton spent the Thanksgiving season with their relatives and friends at Marion and Chatham Hill. Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Lyons of Roanoke, took Thanksgiving dinner and spent some days with their mother, Mrs. Nannie Lyons. Mr. A.J. Rankin sends word that he will be in Tazewell next court with a display of Jewelry, etc, especially for the holidays. H.A. White, Esq. of Paint Lick, has purchased a new Circassian, Walnut, Concert Grand Upright Piano for his beautiful home. Prof T.H.R. Christie, Radford Va. sold the fine piano. At his home on Clear Fork, in Bland County, last Saturday evening, Mr. W. M. Biship was robbed of $600. Two masked men entered his room and with drawn pistols forced him to unlock his safe. They escaped. The illness from which Mrs. R. A. Miller had suffered for some weeks terminated fatally last Sunday night. It had been known for some days that she could not recover, but that made the loss no less keen to her family. Mrs. Miller had many admirable traits as woman, wife and mother. The funeral took place from the house Tuesday, Rev. Mr. Bullard Officiating. Rev. Thomas Mowbray will be installed pastor of the Thompson Valley Presbyterian church at the White Church, Saturday, Dec. 10th at 11 O'clock. Rev. J.E. Wood and Rev. J.G. Herndon will conduct the services, which will consist of a sermon, the usual questions and a charge of pastor and people. WARD-WILSON On last Wednesday evening at 5:30 o'clock, the marriage bells were ringing at the house of John W. Wilson, at which time his daughter, Miss Lucy C. Wilson, was united in marriage to Mr. R.J. Ward, of Tazewell Court house. The officiating clergyman was Rev. J.G. Herndon, of Tazewell County. There were only a few relatives and intimates friends of the contracting parties present. After the marriage the guests were treated to a nice supper by Mr. and Mrs. Wilson and the happy couple left on passenger train No. 17 for Bristol Tenn., where they will be entertained by a sister of the groom, after which they will go to the home of the groom at Tazewell Count hours. They have the best wishes of many friends - Pulaski News. Mr. and Mrs. Ward arrived in Tazewell Tuesday where they will reside.
