MILTON TABOR, of Topeka, Kan., writes this office seeking information of the TABOR FAMILY. He is writing a history of the family, originally from this county. JAMES MATT TABOR and his wife, SALLY BROWN, left Tazewell county in the early forties. The descendants of these two young people are now scattered over many stated of the west. Doubtless some members of the branch of this family are to be found among the large number of TABOR’S living in Tazewell. It appears that the settlement of an important claim is pending in which the connections of JAMES MATT TABOR are concerned. Any one interested will please write MR.S MILTON TABOR, Topeka, Kansas, 817 Tyler Street. [Jams Matt Tabor was the s/o Stephen H. Tabor & Anne Bechelhymer. James Matt Tabor married Sarah Matilda ‘Sally/Mary’ Brown , 12 Jan 1837 in Tazewell Co., VA., and she was the d/o Low Brown, Jr., & Eleanor Compton. STEPHEN H. TABOR HAD MANY BROTHERS, FAMILY, IN THE AREA OF TAZEWELL CO., VA. Daniel Tabor, Richard Adam Tabor, Francis Tabor were some of Stephen H. Tabor's brothers. ADDED DATA: MARRIAGE: Reg 1, pg 103 Tazewell Co., VA., 12 Jan 1837 JAMES TABER, JR & SALLY BROWN * (*Why was James listed as a Jr.? The "Jr" does not show as part of the name in all transcribed copies of the data). Three sons of James Tabor & Sarah Matilda Brown, are listed, in the IGI Files of the Mormon Church, as having been born in Tazewell Co., VA: 1. Erastus G (C.?)., b. 11 Jan 1842, 2. Elihu A., b. 18 Sept 1848, 3. Franklin P., b. 15 July, 1850 [I am not stating that they were born in Tazewell Co., VA., ONLY that the data is what was found in the IGI. However, this MIGHT be incorrect as to all three of them having been born in Tazewell Co., VA DEATH: Carter Co., KY., JAMES TABOR., (b abt 1816-per age at death) James Taber (sic), age 37, married, died 6 Nov 1853, (Gravel, "Free and Lamented"), Carter Co., KY., b. Tazewell Co., VA., s/o STEPHEN & ANN *I have no idea what Gravel, "Free and Lamented" means unless gravel somehow played a part in his death (Several of the Tabor families went to this area of KY).
