MARY A. OVENSHIE, age 83, died at her home in Pocahontas this week. From "Our Early Files" of January 16, 1903 JAMES GOERGE, s/o T. E. GEORGE, dropped dead Tuesday afternoon on the ice pond, west of town, where he had been skating with a number of boys. From "Our Early Files" of January 16, 1903 BALLARD P. PAYNE, of Doak, and MISS CORA ALTIZER, of Gap Store, were married Wednesday. From "Our Early Files" of January 16, 1903 MR. GEORGE SNAVELY, of Smyhte County, and MISS MAGGIE FRANKLIN, of Tazewell were married during Christmas. From "Our Early Files" of January 16, 1903 E. A TILLER was in Tazewell this week, enroute to his home in Kentucky. He had been in New York. TWENTY YEARS; January 18, 1918 DEATH: From "Our Early Files" of January 18, 1918 SAMUEL AUGUSTUS BILLIPS died at his home on Mud Fork last Saturday. He was a Confederate Soldier and was 84 years of age. He is survived by his widow and several daughter and son. (Samuel Augustus Billips was the s/o Jameson Richard Billips - whose name was later entered as James Richard Billips-& Nancy Wright. Nancy Wright was the d/o Hezikah ‘Kiah’ Wright & Rebecca Harman). From "Early File" of January 18, 1918 MARION MCGUIRE, of Steelsburg, and MISS CORDELIA GRIFFITTS were married last week. From "Early File" of January 18, 1918 ROBERT HENKLE and MISS FRANKIE SPARKS, daughter of JOEL SPARKS, of Dry Fork, were married Wednesday at the home of the bride. (Frances V. ‘Frankie’ Sparks, d/o Joel Sparks & Lydia ‘Lidda’ Hankins). From "Early File" of January 18, 1918 WILL WHITE, of Tip Top, was killed by a fall of slate in the mines a Kimball, W. Va., last week. His remains were buried at Tip Top. He is survived by a wife and five children.
