BLUESTONE VALLEY

Bluefield, Va. RFD, April 28-

Misses Toots and Elsie Shrader have arrived here for a visit with their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. H., Shrader. They are employed in Maryland.
[Lila 'Toots' Shrader and Elsie Madeline Shrader, worked in a defense
plant, in Maryland,  during WW II. They were the daughters of Samuel
Homer Shrader & Mary Virginia Wilburn].

Miss Virginia Baker, of Mud Fork, spent the past week end visiting
Kathleen Shawver here.
[Virginia Rose Baker, d/o Everett Taylor Baker &  Lucy Ann a d/o Elgin
Whitley Tabor & Octavia Zane Tiller. Virginia Rose Baker married Ray
Epperson., s/o Ferd  (sic) Thomas Epperson & Macie Belcher].

Pvt. Claude E. Bane, of Fort Benjamin Harrison, Ind., is spending a 7
day furlough with his parents.

Alice Shrader a d/o Francis Marion 'Pet' Shrader & Rachel Maloney
Harman].


Mrs. Roy Slade spent Thursday with her mother-in-law, Mrs. G. W. Slade,
who has been ill.
[Mrs. Roy Slade was Mrs. James ROY Slade (I do not know her maiden
surname, or her given name,  at this time). The mother-in-law was Mrs.
Ann Clifford (Carbaugh) Slade the wife of Gratton Wysor  'Grat'  Slade].

Miss Ila Jane Scott is improving from a sever cold. She has returned to
work in Bluefield, W. Va.,
[Daughter of Robert J. Scott and granddaughter of  Edward Thomas Scott &
Annie Bell (Reynolds) Scott].

Those from this community shopping in Bluefield, W. Va., the past week
were: Mrs. E. E. Scott, Mrs. G. W. Christian, Mrs. C. M. Ruble and
Patsy, Mrs. P. A. Lambert, Mrs. T, K. Ruble and Wanda Lee, Mrs. R. J.
Scott and Ellen, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Caroll and Mrs. G. R. Bowling.
[Mrs. E. E. Scott -Mrs. Edward E. Scott-I do not know her name. Edward
E. Scott a s/o Thomas Edward Scott & Annie Bell Reynolds.

-Mrs. C. M. Ruble-Cisle McKinley Ruble's wife was Mattie FAYTOLA French
the d/o Robert Philmore French & Clarisa Clementine Munsey.

-Mrs. T. K. Ruble-Thomas Kyle Ruble married Lena Wathall
-Mrs. R. J. Scott-Robert J. Scott, s/o Edward Thomas Scott & Annie Bell
(Reynolds) Scott. I do not know the name of Robert's wife].

Curtis B. Stephenson, who was inducted into the U. S. Army April 13, has
been stationed at Fort Eustis.
[Son of James & Ida M. Stephenson. Curtis married Mildred Madeline
Slade]

Mrs. R. J. Scott entertained her Sunday School class last Sunday with an
Easter egg hunt at her home
[Wife of Robert J. Scott].

Tech. Sgt. Bill Tickle, of the U. S. Army, is visiting friends and
relatives here. He also visited his grandmother Mrs. Myra Nash who is a
patient at Bluefield sanitarium.
[ I am uncertain of the parents of this Willian Tickle. However, the
only Myra Nash I am aware of, at this time, is Almira M. "Mira/Myra'
(Ashworth) Nash who was the second wife of Sidney Nash. Almira
(Ashworth) Nash a d/o Hanse E. Ashworth & Florence M. McMullin.  Sidney
Nash was a s/o John Thomas Nash and Elizabeth Jane Shannon. Sidney
Nash's first wife was Anna Walker. The other William Tickle I am aware
of is a s/o John D. Tickle & Nannie Harry. This Nannie Harry was the d/o
Erasmus Harry & Virginia Mullin. However, the second William Tickle was
born March 1902 nd MIGHT have been too old for the war].

Henry B. Slade has returned from Dayton, Ohio.
[Henry Bowen Slade, s/o Gratton Wysor 'Grat' Slade & Ann Clifford
Carbaugh. H. B. Slade married Thelma Elizabeth York a d/o Covely  (sic)
York &  Dora Mae Vider].
