Miss Louise Harman had as her week end guest Miss Helen Morgan, of Bluefield and Huntington. Miss Morgan is in training at the Huntington Memorial Hospital. Rev. Stanley Humble filled his last appointment at the Ebenezer church last Sunday. He will leave soon for conference but we hope he will return for another year. Pvt. Jack Coon, of Camp Mackall, (sic) N. C., has been visiting his sister, Mrs. Dan Slade. [Daniel Gratton Slade, a twin to Lewis Hamilton Slade and sons of Gratton Wysor 'Grat' Slade & Ann Clifford Carbaugh. I am unaware of the given name of Mrs. Dan Slade (Miss Coon), however there is a possibility that she might be kin to Thomas P. Coon who married Evelyn Virginia Ayers a d/o Sanford Edward Ayers, Sr., & Mary Angie Wagner]. Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Shrader and sons, Wayne and Wade,of Bluefield, Va., were visiting Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Shrader Sunday. [Elmo O. Shrader, s/o Samuel Homer Shrader & Mary Virginia Wilburn. Elmo WAYNE Shrader & David WADE Shrader who were two of Elmo's six children. Elmo Shrader married Katherine Barker d/o Kim (sic) Barker & Lillie Monday]. Misses Toots and Elsie Shrader, daughters of Homer Shrader, left last Thursday night for Baltimorre, Md. They have accepted positions in a defense plant [Lila Maxine 'Toots' Shrader & Elsie Madeline Shrader, daughters of Samuel Homer Shrader & Mary Virginia Wilburn]. Pfc. Eugene Patrick, of the U. S. army (sic) is here on a 15 day furlough. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Patrick. [A James E. Patrick, who married Fannie Lockhart, MIGHT have been the parents of Eugene Patrick. Apr 1874, SISTER Mr. and Mrs. Witten Ruble spent last Sunday visiting Mr. and Mrs. John Leedy, Bluefield, V. [Witten Ruble, s/o Adam Edgar 'Ed' Ruble, Sr., & Naomi Pearl 'Oma' Fleshman who was a d/o John Alexander Fleshman & Phoebe Harriett Tabor. Phoebe Tabor a d/o Amos H. Tabor & Cynthia McPherson. John Alexander Fleshman a s/o Andrew L. Fleshman & Elizabeth McDaniel. John M. Leedy, s/o Joseph Milton Leedy & Sarah Edith 'Sallie' Shrader who was a d/o Francis Marion 'Pet' Shrader & Rachel Maloney Harman. I am unaware of the names of the wives of Witten Ruble & John M. Leedy]. James Slade spent the past week end visiting his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Metcalfe. [James ROY Slade, s/o Gratton Wysor Slade had had Mr. & Mrs. Tom Metcalfe as his guests in August of 1943, so I can only assume they meant James ROY Slade. However, I do not know if Mrs. Metcalfe was the sister of his mother or his father. I do not have the Metcalfe family in my file. Franklin D. 'Doc' Slade the brother, of Gratton Wysor Slade, also had a son named James about the same age as James ROY Slade]. Pvt. Ernie Carroll of Camp Pickett, Va., is visiting his aunts Mrs. Lou Carroll and Mrs. Minnie Ruble. [I do not know who Mrs. Minnie Ruble is/was or I might be able to figure this connection. However, I am lost. The closest I can come to this family is Victor W. 'Dock' Ruble, s/o William Calvin Ruble & his wife, Satira. Victor W. 'Dock Ruble's wife's name was Mamie]. Miss Betty Christian left last week for a visit with friends in Kalamazoo, Mich. Elijah Shumate of Cumberland road was a business visitor here last week.
