PATTERSON EAGLE, the mail man from Burke’s Garden to Gratton, does his work faithfully and well ……… "Clinch Valley News" Friday May 13, 1910 Falls Mills, May 11, There will be all day singing at Concord, Tazewell county May 22. A large crowd is expected. PROF. EAGLE and his class from this place will be there. Besides PROF. EAGLE there are PROFS HENSON HELDRETH, WYNN, BAILEY and HACKWORTH. Some fine singing is expected. There will also be dinner on the grounds. Bring a lot of dinner for people from Falls Mills, for they are hearty eaters and there will be a large crowd of them too. A.W. TABOR is expected to be in the crowd. (I am uncertain of Prof. Eagle’s full name. According to an article in the July 1, 1910 "NEWS" it might have been H. M. Eagle. Henderson P. Eagle had a son named Henshaw, b. Aug 1880, but I am NOT certain that is the person named in this Aug. 27, 1909 article. I, Karen EAGLE Moman, had collateral kin in the area, of either Pairsburg, VA.or Hinton, WV? ?I believe one of those locations- whom were both prosecuting attorneys, Edward Calvin Eagle and his son, Harold Bradley Eagle-descendants of my Edward Eagle & Malinda Foster. There was also Henderson P. Eagle’s , wife, Mary/Minnie? L. Maxwell Eagle, and his sons, Henshaw & Marvin Eagle in the Burke’s Garden area of Tazewell Co., VA., whom I have not been able to link to my Eagle line but I, and others, believe the two families to be collateral kin. A. W. Tabor was Alexander Waltham ‘Alex’ Tabor, s/o Amos H. Tabor. Alex was a Mason and took a lot of good-natured ‘Ribbing" from the contributor of the Falls Mills, Italy Leaks, & Taborsville correspondent’s articles to the "Clinch Valley News." Alex Tabor must have been a much-admired man. You can tell, by the remark about "bring a lot of food for the people from Falls Mills,’ that the contributor got a kick out of his "pen" not certain he had a typewriter. ……….. "Clinch Valley News" Tazewell, Tazewell Co., VA Friday July 8, 1910 Subitted from Benbow, Virginia, July 6 M. E. EAGLE, of Burke’s Garden was calling on friends at this place Sunday afternoon.
