VA Clinch Valley News Tazewell, Tazewell Co ., VA Paper published Each Friday Established 1845 Cost-$1.00-in Advance Friday May 16, 1902 ITALY LEAKS (Special Correspondence) After the chilling blasts of king winter and rushing winds of March have put out their summer costumes and all vegetation is springing up beneath our feet, so cometh your Italy correspondent, hope you will deal with him gently as he is a tender branch in the journalistic field. Italy holds within her grasp the main spring of industry throughout this section. There are over 200 employees engaged S. Walton and Co.’s. Quarries at this place consisting of most all the nationalities except those from the oriental country. (Italy Leaks-a community of this era in Tazewell Co., VA. I have not figured out the geographical location but Tazewell Co., is not that big so it was certainly near Falls Mills, VA). The Firm of Bailey and Calfee have just completed the boring of a well at the Quarries going a depth of 137 feet. They moved their machine to H. D. Dudley’s on Mud Fork. (Hugh D. Dudley) Mr. I. C. Dodd has moved his household goods to our camp preparatory to moving his family. Mr. Dodd will take charge of Walton and Co.’s store at this place. E. H. Suddeth and wife of Welch, J. C. Rawn of Roanoke and E. V. Rawn of North Tazewell, spent last Sunday with Maj. Watson. It is a common yet true saying that when two persons have fallen victims to a chronic case of love sickness that one will accuse the other. This will apply to your Falls Mills correspondent. Mr. B. Young went to Matewan last Tuesday in the interest of his company. W. E. Shufflebarger of Graham is doing some repairing on the residence of Maj. Walton.
