Article from Taborsville, 1902 - Tazewell Co. VA Clinch Valley News Tazewell, Tazewell Co., VA Established 1845 Published Each Friday Cost $1.00-in advance January 24, 1902 TABORSVILLE ITEMS MR. and MRS. JAMES TABOR of Thompson Valley are visiting their mother and other friends at this place. (I do not know which James Tabor lived at Thompson Valley, VA. In this window of time there were seven James Tabor’s living in this area of Virginia-several more but not old enough to be married. My GUESS would be that it was James Wingo Tabor, s/o Samuel Flummer Tabor & Charlotte Osburn,. I know Samuel Flummer Tabor lived in the Falls Mills, VA., area. Samuel Flummer Tabor died in 1909. However, I do not show a wife for James Wingo Tabor. The other strong possibility would be James Brittan Tabor, s/o William J. Tabor and Elizabeth Crockett. This William J. Tabor was the son of Francis Tabor & Mary Shrader-NOT Mary Sanders-it is wrong in the Tazewell Co Marriage Records.-the man had only turned his records in once in five years and he had it WRONG as he did the name of Nancy Sanders-she was also a Shrader. James Brittan Tabor married Carmine/Connie A. Hawley, d/o James Hawley & Martha A. Tabor. Marhta A., d/o Andrew Jackson Tabor (killed in Civil War @ Moorefield, August 7, 1864) and Juliana Belcher. Mr. W. B. TABOR, of Denver, N. D. returned to his old home at Falls Mills a few days ago on a visit. He speaks well of North Dakota. He will return in the spring. (I am completely lost on this man. Nothing I have fits this information. Can anyone shed some light on this man?) MR. B. W. TABOR, one of our __?__ farmers, is preparing for a large corn crop this year. He says he has about fifty pannels (sic) of brush fences to build before he is ready to start the plow. (I believe this to be BALLARD W. TABOR, son of Stephen Paris Tabor & Eleanor Havens. Ballard married Florence Virginia Wagner, d/o Rev. Adam Edward Wagner & Juliana Elinor Tabor). MR. EDWARD CARTER, of Springville, passed through town last week on his return trip from Flat Top yards. He says there is a great deal of Grip in his neighborhood. Messers. H. J. TABOR and W. O. HILL are preparing to plant a large bean patch this spring. Henry says he has got about one half pint of seed all ready. (HENRY J. TABOR, s/o Stephen Paris Tabor & Eleanor Havens. Henry married Mary Arminta Wagner, d/o Rev. Adam Edward Wagner & Juliana Elinor Tabor, d/o Francis Tabor & Mary Shrader-NOT Mary Sanders). (W. O. HILL- I wonder if it should have been W. G. Hill-if so it was Wiley G. Hill). MR. and MRS. J. R. HARRY were visiting I. H. HARRY last Sunday. Jim looked like he had eaten a square meal as he came up Mudfork Sunday evening. (JAMES R. HARRY & VIRGINIA "JENNIE" COMPTON, ISAIAH HENDERSON HARRY & MELDORA MOORE TABOR-James & Isaiah Harry sons of John Harry and his third of three wives, Margaret E. Dedmons. John Harry’s other wives were; First wife a lady named Mary-unknown surname Second wife was Caroline E. McGranahan who was married first to a Mr.Shannon.She was the daughter of James & Nancy McGranahan of Monore Co VA/WV. Third wife of John Harry-Margaret E. Dedmons , d/o Chrisley & Lucinda. Margaret b. Pulaski Co VA. and she was first married to a Mr. Wade. VIRGINIA COMPTON, d/o Ballard Preston Compton & Deliah Harless. A daughter of James R. Harry & Virginia Compton, Dora Elizabeth Harry, was the first wife of Berkley Kelly Tabor, s/o Elgin Whitley Tabor & Octavia Zane Tiller. Dora Harry Tabor died of complications of childbirth and Pneumonia. Berkley Kelley Tabor then married Nonnie Mae Walls. MELDORA MOORE TABOR, d/o John Andrew Tabor and his first of three wives, (1) Martha A. Compton, d/o Cornelius Compton & Rebecca Jane Patterson John Andrew’s other wives were (2) Caroline Virginia "Jennie" Hollendsworth, d/o William & E. Hollendsworth (3)Julia Ann Bailey, d/o Harvey G. Bailey &Nancy B. McDaniel/McDonnall MRS. H. E. PERDUE , is quite sick at this writing. (I keep running into this family but I can not figure out who they are in relation to the local families of Perdues and Tabors). In the 1900 Tazewell Co VA Census there is a Henry S. (Silas) Rerdue and his wife is Lauara J (ane) Wagner, d/o Rev. Adam Edward Wagner & Juliana Elinor Tabor. That is H .S. not H.E. and they lived at Mud Fork, Tazewell Co., VA., above where the OLD Macedonia Methodist Church stood. The other possibility in 1900 was a Harrison Perdue age 21, b. May 1879 in VA and his wife Jane A. age 21, b. Sep 1879 (the book has her birth date as Sept 1898?). This couple was living with Hiram Lambert and his wife Harriet L. Lambert. Harrison Perdue is listed as a son-in-law to the head of the home so we can assume Jane A. was Jane A. Lambert before marriage. Harrison & Jane A . Perdue are not living in the Falls Mills section of Tazewell Co., in the 1900 Census. Perhaps if this was the H.E. Perdue they moved to the Falls Mills area. Can anyone help with the identification of H. E. Perdue? There is no H. E. Perdue in the 1880 Tazewell CO., VA Census. There is a William H. age 2 months , s/o James C. & Malisa (sic) J. Perdue. James C., wife and first child Mary A. b. NC.-no help! REV. CHARLES BUTT of Big Branch, was over last Saturday on the rabbit farm hunting. (I BELIEVE this to be Charles W. Butt who married a Virginia Celie-unknown surname. Some of their children were: William, Bentley Ransom-known as Bentley, Cliffton D. "Cliff"-married first Emma Sewell of KY the after her young death Cliff married an Eliza J., Ora Alice, Grover, Michael "Mike", Louise M. and Mable Susan Butt).I had never seen him called a Rev. Butt before this article.
