He had been failing in health for two years. He married twice, both of his wives preceded him to the grave. His first wife, the former MISS MERICA AKERS, died in 1901. His second wife, MRS. MARY RUDD, died February 27, 1939. He is survived by the following half brothers and sisters: GEORGE ASBURY, Boissevain JOE ASBURY, Witten Valley SAM ASBURY, Bluefield, Va. MRS. JOE SHRADER, Burke’s Garden Also surviving are 11 children A. J. ASBURY, Tazewell B. W. ASBURY, Boissevain G. W. ASBURY, Boissevain LACY ASBURY, Boissevain ROY ASBURY, Boissevain ROBERT ASBURY, Amonate MRS. JOHN THOMPSON, Boissevain ,MRS. G. W. SAWYERS, Boissevain MRS ROMA BURRESS, Bluefield, W. Va. MRS. STUART REPASS, Round Hill MRS. G. B. STUPHIN, Pocahontas And four step children JOHN RUDD, Tazewell ANDREW RUDD, Kimball, W. Va. MRS. GEORGIA SHORT, Boissevaib MRS. DENVER BECKETT, Logan, W. Va. He also leaves 65 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Pocahontas Baptist church at 1 p. m. Tuesday, conducted by REV. R. H. BOWDEN. Burial was at Tazewell. The pallbearers were: Carl Asbury, Elmer Asbury, James Asbury, Richard Asbury, Luther Asbury. (John Thomas Asbury was apparently a child, of a first wife, of George Washington Asbury whose second wife was Elizabeth Rebecca Daughtery . The Mrs. Joe Shrader was NELLIE GARRISON ASBURY who married Joseph Henry Shrader, of the Peter Shrader line. John Thomas Asbury’s first wife was America Virginia ‘MERICA’ Akers, d/o Jno O.
