Born in Prestonsburg, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Irland Wright and Mary Horn Calhoun Wright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walker Eli Asbury; stepfather, Britt Wright; one son, Thurman Walker Asbury; one grandson, Steven Blevins. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family in her generation. She was a member of Lester's Chapel Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Canter, Raven, Va., and Mrs. Gladys Perkins and husband Frank, Cedar Bluff; two sons, Tom Asbury and wife Lucille of Cedar Bluff and Irland Asbury and wife Zana of Cliffield, Va.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 31, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Leon O'Quinn and Rev. Ed Lester officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends at Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff from 6-9 p.m. Sunday. E-mail condolences may be sent to singleton@netscope.net.
