TAZEWELL COUNTY, VA - OBITUARIES - Mrs. Robert H. Bailey, 18 Feb 1942 ----¤¤¤---- "Clinch Valley News" Tazewell, Tazewell Co., VA Friday, February 22, 1922 * Reprinted February 20, 1942 * From a perpetual calendar: There was no February 22, 1922- date must be wrong. There was a Friday, February, 3, 10, 17, and the 24th. From another source, I have found that the 22nd was a typo. I should have been February 24, 1922. Mrs. Bailey, wife of the late Captain Robert H. Bailey, died at her home near Bluefield last Saturday at the age of 75. She was the daughter of the late Addison Crockett and was born near Wittens Mill. She was a sister to Mr. E. King Crockett, of Witten (sic) Mill. [I have not found the given name of Mrs. Bailey. Her brother, Edward King Crockett whose name is some records is Eldrid King Crockett. However, E. King Crockett's second wife's obituary stated his name as Edward. Edward King Crockett was first married to Carmelia P. (Crockett) Crockett (I do not know her parents), and E. King Crockett's second wife was Elizabeth V. Vermillion. For Mrs. Bailey to be 75 at the time of death it would have to be one of the early daughters of Addison Crockett and his second wife, Martha Jane Davidson. However, the daughter who was born about 1847, Cassandra, married a Henry Davidson]. Perhaps someone will let me know the answer to the given name of Mrs. R. H. Bailey, please.
