SAMUEL AUGUSTUS BILLIPS died at his home on Mud Fork on last Saturday,
at 5 a. m., after only a few days illness of cardiac asthma.

Mr. Billips was a Confederate soldier and was 84 years old. He leaves a
widow and several sons and daughters. One of his daughters, MRS. EVANS,
of Kingsport, Tenn., did not arrive in time to be present at the
funeral.  ALBERT BILLIPS, a grandson, who has been at Camp Lee, from
Tazewell county, was home and present at the funeral. He will return to
camp Wednesday night.

[Samuel ‘Gus’ Billips, s/o Jameson Richard Billips & Nancy Wright who
was the d/o Hezekiah ‘Kiah’ Wright & Rebecca Harman.  Samuel Billips
married Sarah Jane Bowman, d/o Daniel P. Bowman & Christina/Christener
Owens.  Mrs. Evans was Sallie Billips Albert Billips was the s/o James
Desmond Billips &   Mary E. Lawson].

I do not know if they misread Ragus or if that was Augustus, the son.
However, in 1920 Ragus J. is still in the home.  Perhaps Jack is the
same as the son named Luther--the age would match.
