All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ==================================================================== Clinch Valley News May 16, 1990 John Ward Brown, 80, of Rt. 1 Tazewell, died May 10 in a Veterans hospital in Tennessee after a brief illness. He was born in Tazewell and was the son of the late Jeff Orville and Nannie Ellen Barnes Brown, both Tazewell natives. He was a lifelong resident of Tazewell and was a retired farmer. He was of the Presbyterian faith. He was a WWII US Army veteran. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was preceded in death by: brothers, Robert Orville Brown, Jeff Alexander Brown, and George Walter Brown, and one sister Mary Ellen Brown. Survivors: niece Nancy Brown Barton of Cleveland; and nephews Robert Gordon Brown of Tazewell, and Jeff Alexander Brown Jr. of Johnson City, Tennessee. Graveside services were conducted May 13 at 2 pm at the Brown Family Cemetery in the Cove section of Tazewell with the Rev. Eddie Nash officiating. There was no visitation. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home of Tazewell was in charge of arrangements.
