MR. GABRIEL FOX
   Gabriel G. Fox. Aged 79, died at his home near Shawver Mill last
Saturday. The funeral and burial took place on Sunday, conducted by Rev.
Kelly Neel. In the presence of a large concourse of neighbors and
friends. His wife preceded him some 8 years ago. Then children, 5 sons
and 5 daughters survive. Deceased was a member of the Lutheran church, a
quiet unostentatious man, a successful farmer, and a useful citizen in
his day.

   He was a brave Confederate soldier, only two oh his comrades in arms
survive, it is said, viz: Jno. D. Greever, Burke‘s Garden, and T. H.
Bourne, Gratton

"The links that bind us," one by one are severed."

Chisel in hand stood a sculptor boy,
   With his marble block before him
And his face lit up with a smile of joy,
   As an angl’ dream passed o’er him.
He carved it then on the yielding stone
   With many a sharp incision,
With Heavn’s own light the sculptor shone,
   He had caught the angel vision,

Sculptors of life are we as we stand,
   With our souls uncarved before us,
Waiting the hour when at God’s   command,
   Our life’s dream shall pass o’er us.
If we carve it then on the yielding stone,
   With many a sharp incision
It’s heavenly beauty shall be our own,
   Our lives tha(t) angel vision.

Martha ‘Mattie’ Crabtree who was a d/o David Crabtree. Gabriel G. Fox
married Rhoda Jane Crabtre, &, d/o Thomas Buchanan Crabtree, Sr., & Jane
Wynn. Gabriel Fox & Rhoda Crabtree married 24 Nov 1866, Tazewell Co.,
VA].
