Born at Castlewood, he was the son of the late Walter and Lucy Cassel Hall, both Virginia natives. He was a retired coal miner, being employed with Bishop Coal Co., and a member of the UMWA Local Union No. 6025 of Bishop. He was a resident of the Tazewell county area most of his life and was of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jackie Anne Brewer; brother Gus Hall; sister Maude Lewis; half-brothers, Sam and Charles Shannon and Earl Cassel; and half-sisters, Maggie Cassel and Carrie Kiser. Survivors: wife Irene Combs Hall; daughters, Virginia Lee Prentice of Wilmington, DW, Peggy Salyers of Daton, OH, Charlotte Shiflet of Pine Hill, NJ; son Terry Hall of Newmark, NJ; daughter-in-law Judy Hall of Newmark; sisters Irma Mae Hall and Zola Dye both of Bishop; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The funeral was conducted at 2 pm September 21 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Leon Yost and Ralph Stevenson officiating. Burial followed in the Grandview Memory Garden on the Bluefield-Tazewell Road.
