Obituary for Hattie S. Harman, 1965 - Tazewell Co. VA (Submitter note: This article/obituary was taken from the Richlands News Press April 30, 1965, in the possession of Willy Shelton.) Last Rites for Miss Harman Hattie S. Harman, 85, prominent resident of Tazewell, Va., and member of one of the county's best known pioneer families, died Thursday night at her home following a long illness. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Tazewell Christian Church. She was a daughter of the late J. N. and Betty Hankins Harman. J. N. Harman was a former State Senator from the area and author of such books as "Annals of Tazewell County" and Genealogy of the Harman Family." Miss Harman is survived by two brothers, James W. Harman and Robert W. Harman of Tazewell. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 2 p.m., at the Tazewell Christian Church with Rev. Ambrose Stump officiating and burial in Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell. Pallbearers: Mayor James W. Harman, Jr., James W. Harman, III, J. H. Huffman, Jr., A. G. St. Clair, Jr., R. W. Harman, Jr., R. A. Harman, Laird Harman, Newt Harman, III and L. C. Sayers.
