Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Ellis and Vicie Vandyke Clifton. She was a member of the Greens Chapel Church at Paint Lick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Cassie Horne, Dona McClure, Callie Keen and Stella Addison; and one brother, Walter Clifton. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Squire H. Horne; four daughters, June Davidson and husband Carroll of Saltville, Alma Endicott of Claypool Hill, Va., Marie Smith and husband Dwight of Paintlick and Rita Compton and husband Douglas of Piney Flats, Tenn.; five sons, Lee Morris Horne ad wife Phyllis of Wilmington, Del., Kenneth Horne and wife June of Elkton, Md., Jimmy Horne and wife Betty of Wytheville, Ray Horne of Bland, Va., and Ralph Toya Horne and wife Judy of Paintlick; five sisters, Mae Price of Wilmington, N.C., Myrtle McGhee of Cliffield, Va., Edna Horne of Maxwell, Va., and Hettie Kraszewski and Mona Biddle, both of Newark, Del.; two brothers, Bruce Clifton of Wilmington and Ellis Clifton of Baptist Valley, Va.; 26 grandchildren; and 27 great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 28, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the Singleton Funeral Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Ancil Childress and Rev. Troy Lester officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery at Richlands. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
