MISS CARRIE MAHOOD

MISS CARRIE MAHOOD died suddenly last Friday morning at the home of her
sister, MRS. SANDERS GILLESPIE, in Tazewell, where she had been spending
the winter.

Funeral services were held Sunday morning at 11 o’clock in the Grace
Lutheran church in Rural Retreat.

The funeral services were conducted by the REV. JOHN F. FUTCHS pastor of
the Tazewell and Burke’s Garden Lutheran church, and the Rev. of…. (not
filled in)

There survives, besides, MRS. GILLESPIE, two sisters, MISS SALLIE
MAHOOD, of Tazewell, teacher in the grade school, and MRS. W. C. HANKLA
(sic), of Luray.

Among those from a distance attending the funeral were: MRS. GILLESPIE,
MISS MAHOOD, MISS OLLIE GILLESPIE, MISS NELL GREEVER, from Tazewell;
GEORGE ARMBRISTER and MISS MAE BAILEY and MISS LUCILE BAILEY, MR. and,
MRS. CLARENCE MAHOOD, MR. and. EARL MAHOOD and ROBERT MAHOOD, MR. and
MRS. SPRAKER of Bluefield, PROFESSOR A. G. GREEVER, from Burke’s Garden,
MISS IDA GREEVER, and THEODORE GREEVER, from Burke’s Garden, the REV. E.
H. COPENHAVER and MRS. COPENHAVER, from Marion

[Sister of Rev. George Mahood who died in June 1937. Mrs. J. Sanders
Gillespie was Mary Mahood. J. Sanders Gillespie was the s/o David
Johnston Gillespie & Elizabeth Saunders].
