MCDOWELL (Communicated) Mary Marie McDowell died at her home at Tip Top, Va., Saturday night, Dec.__?__ (no day year given). * She had been a native of Wrights Valley the whole of her seventy-six years. At the age of nineteen she married Charles William McDowell, and they became the parents of seven children, five of whom preceded her in death. Her husband died in 1924. She leaves to mourn her loss two daughters. Miss Trula McDowell and Mrs. R. B. Compton, both of Tip Top; two grandchildren, Bane Compton, of Bluefield, W. Va., and Mrs. S. E. Mitchum of Tip Top; five great grandchildren and one brother, Huston Moore, of Bailey. Mrs. McDowell had been an invalid for several months before her death, and though the death angel seems cruel to us he must have been an Angel of mercy to one who had suffered so long and patiently. God bless her grassy grave A voice from it is heard, "I'm not dead, I'm only out for the evening And I'll return on that morning Of all mornings, to claim each of my own." THANK YOU, followed: We wish to extend our heart felt thanks to our neighbors and felt (sic) thanks for their many acts of kindness during the illness and death of our invalid mother and grandmother. Especially do we thank Mr. Greever and rev. Mr. Humble, the Sunday School and the men who labored the grave. -Mrs. R. B. Compton, Miss Trula McDowell, Bane Compton, Mrs. S. E. Mitchum.
