She was born in Pound and was a daughter of the late James Nelson and Nancy Ardila Hubbard Boggs, both Wise County natives. She had made her home in the Richlands area most of her life residing at the Pleasant View Home for Adults in Honaker the past four years. She was a member of the Richlands Presbyterian Church and a very active member of her church circle. Mrs. Meadows was a former manager of the Piggly Wiggly Bakery, a former employee of Jenkins Dry Cleaners, manager of Swans Cleaners and did alternations for Cury's Department Store. She also was a former employee of King Cole Cafe and Wimpy's Cafe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Marvin E. Meadows; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy McVey and Mrs. Louise Beverly; one son, Marvin Edward Meadows Jr.; one granddaughter, Sue Fredrick; one grandson, Michael McVey; four sisters, Artha Jones, Opal Draughn, Edith Cox and Ava Kilgore; and four brothers, Troy, Alvis, Elmer and Tolly Boggs. Survivors are two daughters, Miss Carolyn Meadows of Richlands and Mrs. Mary Emma Bennett of Staunton, Va.; one son, Mr. Elmer Meadows and wife, Norma of Pounding Mill, Va.; two granddaughters whom she raised, Marilyn Morrison and Karen McVey; one sister, Mrs. Bessie Rash of Abingdon; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild; and one step-great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Rev. Bill McDaniel officiating. Interment will follow in Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Louis Hunter, Ian Dye, Jovon Horton, Rod Cury, Dr. E. Khuri, J.D. Harrison, Tom Hagy, Hugh Cooke, Paul Cook, Maurice Hess, John McClintock and Danny Hutchinson. Friends may call at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands after 6 p.m. Sunday.
