Mullens Sr. CEDAR BLUFF -- Brother Howard Damon Mullens Sr., 46, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at his home. Born on Jan. 13, 1957, at El Paso, Texas, he was the son of Mrs. Akiko Mullens of Tacoma, Wash., and the late Fred Mullens Jr. Howard was employed by American Electric Power for more than 20 years and served as a volunteer at Heritage Hall Nursing Home. He had resided in Tazewell County for more than 20 years. Howard was loved and will be missed by many. He is survived by his mother, Akiko Mullens of Tacoma; three children: Natasha Mullens of Abingdon; Howard Mullens Jr. of Abingdon; and Annette Mullens of Portland, Ore.; four brothers: Jimmy Mullens of Tacoma; Eugene Mullens of Tacoma; Owen Mullens of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; and Robert Damron of Abingdon; three sisters: Brenda Mostrom, Lenora Jones and Jerri Martinez, all of Tacoma; and 18 nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2003, in the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Monte Elswick officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Cemetery at Claypool Hill, Va. Pallbearers will be friends. The family will receive friends at the Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff from 6-9 p.m. Friday. E-mail condolences may be sent to singleton@netscope.net.
