Beavers Family Obituaries 1940-1964 Sept. 1959 Mr. Homer Beavers, age 65, of Aberdeen Maryland died suddenly of a heart Attack enroute to a Richlands, Va. hospital Wednesday afternoon. He was on a visit with his brother Clyde Beavers of Maxwell, Va. at the time of the attack. He was born in Tazewell county, the son of James and Amanda Whitt Beavers, both Tazewell County natives. He attended the public schools of Tazewell County, was a member of the Methodist Church, a veteran of World War I, and the Moose Lodge at Aberdeen, Maryland. Funeral services were held from the home of Clyde Beavers, Saturday Morning at 11:00 with Rev. Walter Mustard in charge. Burial was in the Beavers Cemetery, Cliffield. It was stated that death was due to a heart attack he suffered Tuesday morning. He was born at Bandy, a son of the late Thomas and Lula Mitchell Beavers, both natives of Tazewell, county. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs., Earnest Lynn of Bandy and Mrs. Lessie Bryant of Clintwood; one brother, William Beavers of Bandy, one half sister, Mrs. Hazel Blankenship of Cedar Bluff; one step sister, Mrs. Billy Harrison of Bandy; one half brother Junior Beavers of Cedar Bluff and one step brother, Gally Bryant of Bandy. May 1952 Marion Columbus Beavers, aged 78 years, a retired miner, died this week at his home near Cedar Bluff. He was the son of Mathias & Ruby Christian Beavers, natives of Tazewell County. There survives three sons; Lars, James, and Paul Beavers; daughters; Mrs. Bertha Sparks, Mrs. Virginia Sparks, Mrs. Pauline Altizer; thirteen grandchildren and three half sisters; Mrs. Ruby Mitchell, Mrs. Rebecca Crafton, and Miss Elizabeth Beavers. July 1951 Mrs., Mathias Beavers, aged 83, the former Miss Sallie Elizabeth Graham, died Wednesday in the Jeffersonville hospital, after an illness of two weeks. There survives the following children: Mrs. Julia Harrison, Mrs. Katie Harrison, Mrs. Harry Maxwell and Graham and Chester Beavers of Cliffield; Mrs. Barbara Crouse of Bandy; John Beavers of Northfork; Mrs. Lucy Sayers, Henry and George Beavers all of North Tazewell. Beavers, who for the past 28 years had been shop foreman for Federal Lumber Company and its predecessor at North Tazewell, Va., died last Friday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry G. Tomlinson, Jr., of Tazewell, where he had been ill for the past three months. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Tazewell Baptist Church, the Rev. W.S. Jones and the Rev. Harold J. Davis officiating. Burial was held in Maplewood Cemetery. Mr. Beavers was born at North Tazewell, on January 19, 1885, being a son of D.E. and Carrie Kiser Beavers. He was married to Dora Gray Roberts, on January 13, 1909, to which union was born eight children, seven, of whom survive. One son, Roy Kent, lost his life on December 10, 1929 when he accidentally picked up a live wire while working at English, West, Virginia. Surviving sons and daughter are; Mrs. R.Y. Mundy of North Tazewell; Mrs. Henry G. Tomlinson, Jr. of Tazewell, Va.; Earnest, Curtis, Mary, Cecil, and David Beavers, all of North Tazewell, Va. He is also survived by the following grandsons and granddaughters: J.W., Bobby, and Charlie Mundy and Catherine Gray Tomlinson. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters; E.B. He will be missed in the community in which he lived. He was devoted to his wife during her lifetime, and to his family. He was a direct descendant of the Moore family of Abbs Valley. Aug. 1958 John Woodrow Beavers, of Rt. 7, Cedar Bluff, died Sunday morning in a Richlands hospital. He had been ill for several months. He was the son of Harve and Mary Hinkle Beavers. At the time of his illness he was Deputy Sheriff for Tazewell County. Mr. Beavers was a member of the Cedar Bluff Methodist Church, Cedar Bluff Lodge 260, AFAAM, the O'Keeffe Royal Arch Chapter and Clinch Valley Commandeer, of Tazewell. The young man, 21, was drowned last Thursday while swimming in a private lake owned by former State game commissioner, Carl H. Nolting in the Green Springs section of Louisa County. Altizer was a graduate of Tazewell High School and was working for a BS degree in commerce at the University of Virginia. He served in World War II as an aerial gunner. July 1948 War Victims Reach Home Bodies of five young men from Tazewell County, who were killed in World War 11, have arrived in Columbus, Ohio distribution depot. John H. reedy of Bandy. The body of Private Forrest Jennings, of Boissevain, who was killed July 27, with Co. E 60th Infantry, in Metz, France will arrive in Bluefield Friday. He had been a minister for 45 years and is the founder of the Adria Advent Christian Church. July 1953 M.H. Kiser, aged 81, one of the county's best known men, died last Friday in the Bluefield Sanitarium from injuries he sustained in a fall on a slippery pavement several weeks ago. Mr. Kiser had been a member of the wholesale firm of Stras, Harman Company for more than fifty years. He was a member of the official board of the Baptist Church, clerk of the church for many years and teacher of the Men's Bible Class. He served as county chairman of the Democratic party for several years and was active in politics. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Dixie McCall; a son Elmer Kiser, clerk of the County, and a sister, Mrs. Howard Miller of Knoxville, Tenn.
