Owens OAKWOOD, Va. -- Ella Lucinda Hagerman Owens, 68 years of age, went to be with the Lord Monday, March 17, 2003, at Kindred Hospital, Greensboro, N.C. Born in McDowell County, W.Va., Dec. 5, 1934, the daughter of the late John B. Hagerman and Ella Lucinda Vandyke Hagerman, she was a member of the Garden Creek Church of Christ, her hobbies included quilting, needle work and crocheting. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Owens in May, 1992; one daughter, Abigail "Bunny" Colley, November, 2000; and one brother, Charlie Hagerman. She is survived by one son, Wesley Owens and special daughter-in-law, Shirley Owens of Oakwood; special son-in-law, Gary Colley of Oakwood; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Geneva) Cuthertson of Oakwood; one brother, Howard Wesley (Johnny) Hagerman and wife Cassie of Elkhorn City, Ky.; one sister-in-law, Net Hagerman of Tazewell, Va.; and two grandchildren, John Owens and wife Sarah of Lynchburg, Va., and Evangelist Rusty Owens of Oakwood. She is also survived by special friends, Sara and Matt Horne, Sonya Young, Brandon Helton, Logan Young and Tyler Young; and a host of friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 21, 2003, at 1 p.m. at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, with Evangelist Hobert Kennedy, Evangelist Jim Hill, Evangelist Bob Smith and Evangelist Bill Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Active pallbearers will be nephews and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Larry Mitchell, 2nd floor nursing staff at Clinch Valley Medical Center, nursing staff of Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, N.C., men of the Garden Creek Church of Christ, Richard Vandyke, Arthur and JoAnn Whitt, Betty Horn, Shirley Horn, Max Willard, Jerry Cox and other members of the Oakwood Rescue Squad and members of the Love Joy Home Medical. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Thursday evening with services at 7 p.m. The family of Ella Lucinda Hagerman Owens is being served by Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home of Grundy.
