Riley BATESBURG, S. C. -- Mr. Harold Bruce Riley, 69, formerly of Richlands, passed away Jan. 9, 2003, in a Lexington, S.C., medical center following a brief illness. He was born in Spencer, W.Va., and was the son of the late Howard Early and Goldie Faye Riley. He had made his home in the Richlands area most of his life and was the former owner and operator of Riley's Grocery in Richlands for 27 years. He attended the Chapel of Love and the Wilderness Church and was a member of the Hulon Baptist Church inBatesburg and was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William Darrell Riley. Survivors are wife, Juanita Wess Riley; daughter, Anita Kelly Truan of Richlands; two sons, Darrell Bruce Riley of New Jersey and Harold Scott Riley of Richlands; four sisters, Mrs. Ella Mae Tapar of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Virginia Paxton, Gandeeville, W.Va., Mrs. Mary Whited of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Mrs. Judy Harper of Savannah, Ga.; three brothers, Mr. Wayne Riley of Cleveland, Ohio, Mr. Frank Riley of Spencer, W.Va., and Mr. James Riley of Spencer; and two grandchildren, Todd Riley and Amber Riley, also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with the Rev. Roger Lester and the Rev. Aldie Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens Cemetery in Claypool Hill, Va. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Casey-Shortt VFW Post 9640 and Tazewell County Chapter 31 DAV will conduct military graveside rites.
