His favorite songs were, "On Jordan's Stormy Banks I Stand," and "Friends Shed No Bitter Tears for Me When I Am Gone With Christ to Be." He loved his bible and his favorite chapters were the 14th chapter of John and the 23rd Psalms. He was a kind husband and an affectionate father and will be missed in the community in which he lived. May the bereaved wife and children sorrow not as those who have no hope No hidden grief, No Wild and cheerless vision of despair, No vain petition for a swift relief, No tearful eyes, no broken hearts are there No parted friends O'er mournful recollections have to weep, No bed of death enduring love attends, To watch the coming of a pulseless (sic) sleep, Life's race will run, Life's work well done, Life's crown well won, Now comes rest One who loved him -D.
