Obituary of Jackson Shelton, 1980 - Tazewell Co. VA (Submitter note: This obituary is a clipping taken from the Richlands News Press dated July 9, 1980, in the possession of Willy Shelton.) Jackson Shelton Jackson Shelton, 76, of Raven, died Monday, June 30, in a Richlands hospital after a long illness. Born at Doran, he was a son of the late William and Anna Sparks Shelton. He was a member of the Doran Wesleyan Church and a retired miner. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, and was preceded in death by one son, Jackson Shelton, Jr. Survivors include his wife, Hattie Jackson Shelton; one daughter, Mrs. Harry (Anna Frances) Campbell of Woodbridge; one son, Parris M. Shelton of Oakwood; and one grandson also survives. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, July 3, at the Tazewell County Funeral Home Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Dr. James B. Hollenhead officiating. Burial followed in the Hankins Cemetery at Richlands. Pallbearers were Dr. James Gillespie, Harold Sargeant, Elbert Sergeant, Ernest Lee Jackson Jr., Joe Mckinley and Charles Vanhoozier.
