Obituary of Annie Mae Shelton, 1977 - Tazewell Co. VA

Annie Mae Shelton

Mrs. Annie Mae Shelton, 67, of Rt. 1, Raven, died Saturday night, April 9, in a Richlands 
hospital following a long illness.
  Born in Tazewell County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Lettie Shelton Proffitt. 
  Her husband, Howard Shelton, died in 1968.
  She was a member of the Church of God.
  Survivors include three sons, Ralph Shelton, J. C. Shelton and Oris Shelton, all of Raven; two 
daughters, Emily Lou Chambers and Lettie Sue Shelton, both of Raven; four brothers, Raymond and 
Louis Proffitt, both of Keen Mountain, Arch Proffitt of Red Ash, and Arthur Proffitt of Muleshoe 
TX; four sisters, Mrs. W. D. Barnes of newellton, LA, Lucy Proffitt and Nellie Collins, both of 
Vicksburg MS, Mrs. Richard Baxter of Longview TX; eight grandchildren and two great 
grandchildren.
  Services were Tuesday at the residence in Raven with the Revs L.A. Meadows and Lee McGlothlin 
officiating. Burial followed at Shelton Cemetery at Raven.
  Friends and neighbors served as pallbearers.
  Tazewell County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
