DEATH:

WALKER SLADE, sixty years of age, died at his home in West Graham last
Friday night. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Graham
Christian church, conducted by REV. J. D. KITCHIN, JR., assisted by REV
. M. V. PIERCE, and
REV. E. H. COLE.

Mr. Slade was born at Cove Creek April 30 1878, and was the son of JOHN
WILLIAM SLADE and AMELIA ANN WALKER

Mr. Slade went to West Graham  33 years ago.

He is survived by his wife, who before marriage was MRS. THURMAN WATSON
BEARD, a son EARL SLADE, of Leavenworth, Kansas, and a daughter,  MRS.
EDWARD T. CROCKETT, of Bluefield, VA. There also survives two sisters,
MISSES LUCY and SALLIE SLADE, of Shawvers Mill of Bluefield, W. Va.
(sic), and seven brothers, W. P.,  SLADE, C. O. SLADE   J. M. SLADE, and
D. F. SLADE, of Shawvers Mill; G. M., of Rocky Gap; G.T., of Hammond,
Indiana, and G. W. of Bluefield.

(Samuel Walker Slade’s  first wife was Virginia May Neel, 1881, 1928,
and his second wife was Thurman Priscilla Watson, d/o Thomas Witten
Watson & Mary L. Stephenson. Mary L. Stephenson,  d/o Simon E.
Stephenson & Priscilla Blackwell. Thurman Watson’s first husband was
John Chapman ‘John’ Beard. Thurman was J. C. Beard’s second wife. J. C.
Beard had first married Margaret Lee ‘Maggie’ Stevenson.
