Obituary of Mrs. Gladys Smith, 1973 - Tazewell Co. VA (This obituary is a clipping taken from the Richlands News Press dated May 8, 1973 in the possession of Willy Shelton.) MRS. GLADY SMITH Mrs. Gladys Smith, 67, of Edgewater Drive, Cedar Bluff, died Monday evening, May 7, in a Richlands hospital, following a brief illness. She was born at Jewell Ridge, and was the daughter of the late Fayette M. and Louvica Mitchell Elswick, both Tazewell County natives. She had lived in the Cedar bluff area for the past 32 years and was a member of the Cedar Bluff United Methodist Church. Survivors are her husband, Ted Smith; one son, Roscoe Smith, Cedar Bluff; and one sister, Mrs. S. G. Swimm, Richlands. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral chapel with Rev. Walter L. Gates and Rev. Tommy Patrick officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill. Pallbearers will be; David Hankins; Marvin Hankins; Richard Shortridge; Dennis R. Hamm; Clyde Price; Kenneth Trent; and Bill Nearhood. The body is at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands where friends may call.
