His death occurred at 9(?):45 p. m. (sic) Sunday morning. His remains were brought to Tazewell and buried on last Monday, and interred near the old home in Thompson Valley. MR. WALK, was employed in the Bristol Door and lumber company, and on Saturday, immediately after dinner, he aimed to s__?__t (start?) a belt, which was usually done with a stick three of four feet long. By some means the stick was wrenched from his hand. It left the belt and struck him in the pit of the stomach, bursting a blood vessel, causing death as above stated. His mother and brother reached Bristol, in response (?) to a telegram, but not until after his death. REV. W. H. T. SQUIRE, pastor of the Central Presbyterian church of Bristol, accomopanied the body of the unfortunate young man to Tazewell on Monday, and conducted the burial service. MR. WALK, was received into the Central Presbyterian church on his death bed. [I BELIEVE this to have been the son of Van Walk & Amanda Jane "Manda’ Matthews who was the d/o William R. Matthews and Nancy Williams. 1880 TAZEWELL CO VA CENSUS # 5, Dist 89, Richard Smoot, enumerator VAN WALK, 31, farmer, b. VA (All in home b.
