	Will.  Loving _____, Martha--Negro, Jane, and after her decease to be 
sold and money to be divided amongst my nine daughters; Rebecca Thompson, 
Polly Gibson, Nancy Muse, Martha G. Carrol, Peggy Hall, Jane Witten, 
Elizabeth Peery, Pamela Gibson, Attiha Rutledge.  Sons: Andrew & Thomas--
have deeded land to them in my lifetime.  The tract of land I live on I 
intended for my son, Joseph, but he having traded away his claim to Jonathan
Peery, I now bequeath the said tract of land to said Jonathan Peery.  
Executors:  Ambrose Hall & Jonathan Peery.  Wit:  Milton L. Moore & James 
M. Peery.

	Will.  Weak in body.  Daughter: Catharine French.  Daughter:  Rebecca 
French.  Wife:  Elizabeth--remainder as long as she remains a widow.  If she
remarries, daughter Nancy receives balance (if there be no other heir).  If 
there is another heir, they should get equal shares.   Daughter: Catharine 
French--land whereon I live, being the western part thereof, lying next to 
the Valley Ridge agreeably to the conditional line made and marked out by 
Samuel Carter and Abram Garrison at the request of the said James Carter, 
which part is also known and distinguished by the name of the Reubin Place.  
Wife: the part of the plantation where I now live, including the mansion 
house.  Executors: Samuel Carter & Daniel Carter.  Witnesses:  Jos. Moore, 
Abraham Garrisson, John Carter.

JOHN LAIRD		(page 327)	Made: 20 May 1831		Proven: May 1831
	Will.  "Feeling conscious of the rapid approach of my ______ 
disolution."  Wife: Elizabeth--the land on this side of the river, that is 
the land where I live, except the old field which my son, Samuel, has in 
cultivation and which adjoins the land of Hiram Witten.  At her death to go 
to sons: Samuel and Cornelius.  At decease of wife Negroes, except Isaac 
which is bequeathed to son, Cornelius, are to be equally divided between my 
three daughters: Jane Witten, Letty Sayers, and Polly Davis.  To son, Samuel,
all the land joined upon the other side of the river on which he lives and 
the field on this side of the river which he has under cultivation.  To 
daughter: Margaret Pratt.  Executors:  James F. Pendleton and son-in-law, 
Thomas Davis.  Witnesses: Samuel Cecil, Albert G. Pendleton, Charles 
Stratten.
