Crabtree Will In the name of God amen I James B. Crabtree sen being of sound mind and body disposing memory and ever warned of the uncertainty of life and the awful certainty of death being desirous to make proper disposition of my worldly goods do make this my last will and Testament. First, that after my death I desire that my body be interred in a decent and becoming manner. Secondly, I desire that my just debts shall all be paid by executors hereafter mentioned. Thirdly, I give to my three sons Thomas, William and John all the land that I own to be divided equally between them and after paying all my just debts. I give to my above named sons Thomas, William and John all my personal estate of every description to be likewise equally divided between them. I desire that my above named sons give to my two daughters Nancy and Susan when they nead it one horse bride and new saddle each to be worth fifteen dollars each two cows and clves each four sheap each one breading sow each two beads and bedsteads each one chest worth three dollars one half bushel pot each small oven and skillet each, one set knives and forks each one set plates on sett teaspoons one sett table spoons one pitcher worth thirty seven cents each. I also desire that my above name sons give to my daughters Elizabeth Ann, Jane and Rhody 1 one year old hefier each when my youngest son John arrives at the age 21 years I also desire that my afore named sons after my death support desently my wife Mary during her lifetime. I appoint my oldest son Thomas executor to this my last will provided he reaches 21 years of age before my death if not I appoint my wife Mary in his stead. Lastly, I give my body to mother earth and my soul to god who gave it. Given under my hand and seal June 7th 1851 Witnesses James L. Witten James B. Crabtree Matthew French Susan Turley readit by the reception of one horse and Saddle as mentioned within, Nancy Henderson received one horse and saddle also 2 cows 2 beds 4 sheep one breeding sow. the above named Susan Turley also received 2 cows 2 bed 4 sheep one breeding sow and all due her from my state. And further I do declare that my children have been paid each their part this March 7th 1861 attest B.F. Kelly James B. Crabtree George Asbury Virginia: At a Court for Tazewell County held at the Court House on the 1st day of May 1861. The last will and testament of James B. Crabtree decd with the codicil annexed, was this day produced to the Court and James L Witten and Matthew French subscribing witnesses thereto the latter being dead. The former after being duly sworn says that the said will was signed and acknowledged by the testator in their presence present at the same time and that they subscribed that their manes thereto as witnesses in the presence of the said testator and each other, the hand writing of the said Matthew French dec'd proved by the oath of George Asbury and B.F. Kelly subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And thereupon the Court appointed William S. Hubble administrator with the will annexed of James B. Crabtree deceased and the said William S. Hubble came into court and together with W.J. Buchanan, Hugh S. Bailey, Wm. J. Crabtree and John B. Crabtree his sureties executed and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of one Thousand Dollars with condition according to law which bond was approved and received by the Court certificate is given him the said William S. Hubble for obtaining administration with the will annexed on the estate of the testator according to law. Teste P.R. Spracher
