Final rites were held April 11 at Queen Street Baptist Church for Mrs. Leivonia
Ames of 1013 Lafayette drive.  Mrs. Ames died at home April 6.  The Rev. Dr. J.
Jasper Freeman, pastor, officiated. 

Mrs. Ames was a native of Gatesville, NC, and had lived in Norfolk about 35
years.  She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Riddick of
Gatesville NC.

Survivors are her husband, Harrison Ames of Norfolk;  a son, Norman Whidby;  two
stepdaughters, Mrs. Alice Carroll, and Mrs. Leola Williams, of Bayside, Princess
Anne County;  four brothers, William, Phillip, Charlie and Wallace Riddick of
Norfolk VA.

Others are five sisters, Mrs. Mary Stokes and Mrs. Eva Maddox, of Norfolk;  Mrs.
Ethel Morris, of Dendtron VA., and Mrs. Sadie Coston, and Mrs. Lillie Saunders,
of Gatesville NC;  and five step-grandchilren.

Interment was in Betty Jones Cemetery.
