Norfolk Journal and Guide, Oct 27,1962
Mrs. Mary E. Carter of 977 Charlotte street who died in a Norfolk hospital Oct. 
18, was given final rites Tuesday at Queen Street Baptist Church.

The Rev. J. J. Freeman officiated at the service.  Burial was in Betty Jones 
Cemetery with Graves Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Carter was a native of Norfolk and a member of Queen Street Church.

She is survived by her husband, William Carter;  two brothers, Cecil Irvin of 
Norfolk and James Irvin of Richmond, Miss Izora Irvin of Richmond, Miss Virginia 
Irvin of Baltimore, Miss Martha Irvin and Mrs. Ida Robinson of Norfolk.
