Norfolk - Elias Cobb, Princess Anne County farm hand, reputed to be 103 years 
old, died on the Bell Farm in Kempsville, where he was employed, on Friday, 
January 7.

The supposed centenarian, who was a native of Chapel Hill,NC, had lived in this 
section for 45 years. After having passed his 80th birthday, he is said to have 
made frequent trips from Kempsville to Norfolk City, a distance of approximately 
seven miles, on foot.

His funeral was held at Hale’s Chapel Thursday, January 13, with the Rev. W. H. 
Evans officiating.

The deceased, a widower, is survived by four stepsons, one daughter, one nephew 
and other relatives. Interment was in the Betty Jones Cemetery in Princess Anne 
County.
