The Virginian Pilot April 22, 1980
James Oscar Ewell, 73, of 5689 Morris Neck Road, Creeds, died Sunday at 4:30 
p.m. in a hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of Priness Anne County and Virginia Beach. He was 
the husband of Mrs. Bessie Everton Ewell.
He was retired from Buzzy Air Conditioning and Insulating Co. He was a member 
of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Bessie E. James of Portsmouth; two 
sisters, Mrs. Ruth E. Whitehurst and Mrs. Eleanor E. James of Virginia Beach; 
two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Oak Grove Baptist Church by the 
Rev. Paul S. Carter. Burial will be in Charity Methodist Church Cemetery. The 
family will be at Maestas Funeral Home Wednesday night from 7:30 to 8:30.
