Norfolk - Joseph Gainer, 66, of 2938 Kimball terrace, died in Lake Taylor
Hospital after a long illness.  

A native of Roberson, NC, he was the son of the late Andrew and Mrs. Lizzie Gainer.

Formerly, he was a longshoreman for 18 years and a former member of Antioch
Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Mary Mabry of Suffolk, and Miss Minnie V. Gainer
of Roberson, NC;  four brothers, Willie Gainer of Suffolk, Eddie Gainer of New
Bern NC, Haywood Gainer of Philadelphia, and Henry Gainer of Trenton, NJ.

Graveside rites were officiated by the Rev. H. T. Myers.  Burial was in Jones
Memorial Park with Jones Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
