Virginia Beach - A funeral service for Mrs. Carolyn Perkins Gay, 83, of 237
Doziers Corner Lane, was conducted Sunday in St. Stephen Holiness Church. Elder
Thurlias Burton delivered the eulogy.

A native of Bethel, NC, she was the widow of Columbus Gay Sr. and a member of
St. Marks AME Church.

She is survived by five sons, Herman Gay and Thurman Gay of Norfolk, Columbus
Gay Jr., Romuel Gay and Walter M. Gay of Virginia Beach; five daughters, Mrs.
Cleavonna Teel of Hobgood NC, Miss Mary Lee Gay, Mrs. Bettie Riggins and Mrs.
Charlie A. Gay of Virginia Beach, and Miss Margaret Gay of New York City; a
brother, Ashley Perkins of Bethel; two sisters, Mrs. Bettie Reid of Greenville
NC, and Mrs. Joanna Joyner of Washington; 35 grandchildren, and 28
great-grandchildren.

Interment was in Jones Memorial Park with Hairston Funeral Home in charge of
arrangements.
