Mrs. Katie Massey, of 719 Hughes street, died at 8:15 p.m. Aug. 8 at a Norfolk
hospital following an illness of about six months. Funeral services were held at
1 p.m. Aug. 14 at Hale’s Funeral Chapel with the Rev. F. P. Wise, pastor of Mt.
Lebanon Baptist Church, officiating. A native of Nash County, NC, Mrs. Massey
lived in Norfolk ten years. She was the daughter of the late Eli and Mrs. Millie
Mills.

Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Lula Woodley of Battlesboro, NC, and Mrs. Pearl
Winstead of Wilson, NC. Burial was at Betty Jones cemetery, Princess Anne
county, with Hale’s Funeral Home in charge.
