Norfolk - Mrs. Pearl Norcum of 721 Marshall Ave., the widow of Ireal Norcum,
died July 29 in a hospital.

A native of Hertford, NC, she was a daughter of the late Lemuel Carter and Mrs.
Mary Nickson Carter.

She was a member of Queen Street Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lottie Bess of Long Island, NY; a sister, Mrs.
Fannie Hassell of Summit, NJ; a brother, Herbert Carter of New York; a
grandchild; and a great grandchild.

A funeral service was held August 4 in Graves Funeral Chapel by the Rev. J. J.
Freeman. Burial was in Jones Memorial Park, Virginia Beach.

(Ireal Norcum is exactly how his name is spelled in the newspaper)
