A native of Cleveland, Ohio, she was the wife of BENJAMIN JAMES VAIL SR and a daughter of HERMAN and MRS. ROSE A. HEMPEL. She was a member of South Norfolk Church of Christ and lived in the South Norfolk area 54 years. Besides her husband, surviving are a daughter, MRS. CHARLOTTE INEZ THOMAS and 2 sons, NORMAN C. VAIL and BENJAMIN J. VAIL JR, all of Chesapeake; a sister, MRS. VIRGINIA PIERONE of Detroit, Mich; her stepmother, MRS. EDITH HEMPEL of Shreveport, La and 6 grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted in Graham Funeral Home Tuesday, October 11, 1966 at 2 pm by W.H. MARLER, retired and JAMES T. BAYNE of Lindale Church of Christ. PINEL JACKSON (JACK) VAUGHAN Thursday, October 6, 1966 Ahoskie, NC - Age 74, died Thursday, October 6, 1966 in McGuire Veterans Hospital, Richmond. A native of Hertford County, he was a son of WILLIAM JOSEPH and MRS. QUINETTA VAUGHN and the husband of MRS. ESSIE COKER VAUGHAN. He was a retired farmer and carpenter and an Army veteran of World War I. He was a member of Union Baptist Church, a deacon 30 years and former Sunday school teacher. Besides his widow, surviving are 2 daughters, MRS. MABLE REID DRAGER of Charleston, SC and MRS. MARY JO DEMPSEY of Chesapeake, Va; a sister, MRS. RALPH DUCKWORTH of Brevard; a foster son, Retired Captain ROBERT W. VAUGHN of Atlanta and 5 grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 7, 1966 at 2 pm EST in Union Baptist Church by the Rev G.P. SULLIVAN and the Rev H.G. THOMPSON. Burial will be in Ahoskie Cemetery. A retired farmer, he was the oldest director in the Meherrin Valley Bank, Boykins, having served in that capicity for 36 years. He was a member of the Branchville Baptist Church and the Men's Bible Class. He is survived by his wife, MRS. EMA DAVIS VICK; a daughter, MRS. BERTHA DICKERSON; a grandson, RICHARD DICKERSON; 2 sisters, MRS. R.A. BRYANT and MRS. W.T. GRIZZARD and 2 brothers, R.D. VICK and W.H. VICK, all of Branchville. The body will be taken from the Purveiance Funeral Home Sunday, January 4, 1953 at 1 pm, to lie in state at the Branchville Baptist Church. THOMAS BUXTON VIRNELSON Friday, November 2, 1906 / Saturday, November 3, 1906 (one obit said Interment was in Cedar Grove, the other in Oak Grove Cemetery) Funeral services will take place Friday, November 2, 1906 at 3:00 pm from the residence. He died Wednesday night, October 31, 1906 in his home, 1211 Glasgow Street. Interment will take place in the Oak Grove Cemetery. He was 72 years old. He death came after a two year illness. For a long time, he was employed at the Seaboard Air Line Railway shops in this city. He served throughout the war between the states in Company A, Naval Battalion, under General LEE and surrendered at Appomattox. He was a member of Atlantic Lodge No 24, K. of P. He is survived by 2 sons, C.L. VIRNELSON and L.H. VIRNELSON and 2 daughters, MISS CLAUDINE H. VIRNELSON and MRS. ELIZABETH HERBERT. He leaves 1 sister and 1 brother, MRS. J.C. HERBERT and C.C.
