Goembel Dies Suddenly, Prophetstown Resident, 85, Stricken at Attack of Heart Disease.: Zachary Taylor Goembel died shortly after 7 this morning. Born Dec. 18, 1849 near Washington, Ill. he was son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Goembel. He married Dec. 10, 1974 to Anna Ruck Thomas and lived on a farm near Geneseo, then moved to Prophetstown in 1900. Mrs. Goembel died in October, 1929. Survivors: one daughter, Mrs. Alice Erdman of Prophetstown, two sons, Herbert of Prophetstown and William of Auduborn, Ia., one brother Henry of Geneseo and four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Seyller of Little Rock, Ark., Mrs. Anna Greenwood of Hooppole and Mrs. Mollie Smith and Mrs. Theodore Becker Sr. of Geneseo. Two brothers preceded him in death. Burial at Riverside Cemetery. 1934: John H. Goembel, 76, Dies, Monday, May 21, on North College Ave.: John H. Goembel passed away at 5:15 p.m. May 21, 1934 at the house of Mrs. Leonard Sieben where he and his wife have been making their home since last September. He had been in poor health for 5 years. He was 76 years, 4 months and 26 days old. He was born in Tazewell county, Ill., Dec. 25, 1857, son of Henry and Katherine Goembel. On March 25, 1885 he married Miss Harriet Hines. His residence was Eagle Rock, CA. Survivors: the widow, Mrs. Harriet Goembel, two brothers, Zach Goembel of Prophetstown and Henry Goembel of Geneseo, four sisters, Mrs. Anna Greenwood of Hooppole, Mrs. Lizzie Seyller of Little Rock, Ark., Mrs. Mollie Smith and Mrs. Kate Becker of Geneseo. Two brother preceded him in death, one dying in infancy and Charles passing a few years ago. Burial in Oakwood cemetery. Mrs. Mollie Smith, 73, Lifelong Resident of This Community, Dies: The Geneseo Republic, February 7, 1936 Mrs. Mollie Smith passed away at her home on North State street, Sunday Feb. 2, 1936 at 73 years, 8 months and 13 days. She had been ill several weeks. She was born near Washington, Tazewell County, Ill. March 13, 1862. Daughter of the late Henry Sr. and Katherine Goembel. Married Jan 21, 1891 to John Smith. Mr. Smith died Oct. 8, 1928. Survivors: one daughter, Mrs. Neva Hall of Los Angeles, Calif., three sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Seyller of Stuttgard, Ark., Mrs. Anna Greenwood of Hooppole and Mrs. Kate Becker of Geneseo, one brother, H.L.
