Persons or organizations desiring to use this material, must obtain the written consent of the contributor, or the legal representative of the submitter, and contact the listed USGenWeb archivist with proof of this consent. ************************************************************************ Transcription of sale of land by Andrew Cline to George Goodman This Indenture made this 20th day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five between Andrew Cline of the county of Washington in the state of Virginia of the one part and George Goodman of the county and state aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said Andrew Cline for & in consideration of the sum of four hundred and fifty dollars current money to him in hand paid doth bargain and sell unto the said George Goodman and his heirs one certain track or parcel of land lying and being in the said county of Washington on both sides of Beaver Creek and bounded as followeth to wit. Beginning at two white oaks and dogwood corner to John Shelley's land now Andrew Cline junr's land and with the same N37 W52 poles crossing the creek to a white oak stump near the same leaving John Shelley's land thence S35 W2 poles to two white oaks corner to Jacob Shelley's land and with his lines S78 W68 poles to a white oak three white oak grubbs N18 W58 poles to a hiccory on the south end of a ridge near the head of a hollow leaving John Shelley's line S29 W148 poles to a hiccory and two sourwoods S35 E80 poles to a hiccory & three chesnut points from one root on the side of a hill N79 E78 poles to three hiccory saplings and a white oak N32 E128 poles crossing the creek to the Beginning containing eighty one acres and sixty two poles with all its appurtenances. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with all its appurtenances unto the said George Goodman and his heirs to the sole use and behoof of him the said George Goodman and his heirs forever. And the said Andrew Cline for himself and his heirs doth covenant with the said George Goodman and his heirs that he the said Andrew Cline and his heirs the above described tract of land with all its appurtenances unto the said George Goodman and his heirs against the claims of all persons whatever shall warrant and will forever defend. In witness whereof the said Andrew Cline hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written. Andrew Cline (his signature and seal) At a court held for Washington County the 20th day of September 1825 This Indenture of bargain and sale between Andrew Cline of the one part and George Goodman of the other part was acknowledged in court by the said Cline as his act and deed and ordered to be recorded.
