Persons or organizations desiring to use this material for other than their personal research, must obtain the written consent of the contributor, or the legal representative of the submitter, and contact the listed USGenWeb archivist with proof of this consent. ***************************************************************** THIS INDENTURE made this -th day of February one thousand seven hundred and eighty eight between Cornelius Carmack of the County of Washington and State of Virginia of the one part and a Nicholas Fleenor of said County and in consideration of the sum of ____ pounds current money of Virginia to the said Cornilius Carmack in hand paid doth bargain and sell unto the said Nicholas Fleenor and his heirs one certain Tract or parcel of Land in the said County of Washington lying in the Rich Valley - Holstein's River containing one hundred and fifty eight Acres being part of a Tract of three hundred and seventy Acres obtained by grant (dated) the Nineteenth of October one thousand seven hundred and eighty five? - bounded as follows wit Beginning on a steep spur of Walkers Mountain at a Lynn and running thence -South? thirty eight degrees West ninety three poles to a -pple poplar on the side of a ridge S 75 W 48 poles to a Sugar tree above a branch S 51 degrees W 32 poles crossing a branch twice to a Stake on a rocky bank. N 64 degrees W 40 poles to four small white oaks near the top of a Knob. N 54 degrees W 55 poles crossing a branch to a white oak by a path South one hundred and sixteen poles to a black oak S 53 degrees E 152 poles to a Stake. N 38 degrees E 140 poles to the Beginning. Together with all its appurtenances To Have and To Hold the said one hundred and fifty eight acres of Land with its appurtenances to the said Nicholas Fleenar and his heirs to the sole use and behoof of him the said Nicholas Fleenar and his heirs forever. And the said Cornelius Carmack for himself and his heirs doth covenant with the said Nicholas Fleener and his heirs that he the said Cornelius Carmack and his heirs the said Land with all its appurtenances will forver warrant and defend. In Witness whereof the said Cornelius Carmack hath hereunto subscribed his name and affixed his seal this day and year first above written . Cornelius Carmack S.S., (his mark) Lettices Carmack S.S. At a Court held for Washington County the 19th day of February 1793. This Indenture of bargain and sale between Cornelius Carmack of the one part and Nicholas Fleenar of the other part was acknowledged in Court by the said Cornenius Carmack and ordered to be recorded . At a court held for Washington County the 21st day of July 1801 this Indenture of bargain and sale were acknowledged in court by Lettice Carmack wife of said Cornalius Carmack & ordered to be recorded.
