Washington Co, VA indenture between John ZION and Phillip Gobble

	THIS INDENTURE made the 30th day of December 1797 between 
John Zion of the County of Washington of the one part and Philip 
Gobble of the said County of the other part WINESSETH that the 
said John Zion hath for and in consideration of the sum of three 
dollars to John Zion in hand paid doth bargain and sell unto the 
said Philip Gobble and his heirs one certain tract of land in the 
said County of Washington containing fifty one acres be the same 
more or less lying on the waters of Mills faub ? branch the 
waters of the North fork of Holstein river and is granted to said 
Zion by Pattent bearing date the 18th day of June 1795 bounded as 
followeth, to wit, Beginning at two beaches near the foot of a 
hill running thence North 55 East 56 poles to a Spanish oak and 
dogwood - g. E. 49 poles to a sourwood and two beeches on a hill 
side N 35 to 40 poles crossing a branch and along a steep knob to 
a chesnut  West 40 poles along the North side of said knob to a 
dogwood North 22 poles to a black guess and dogwood near to 
Linders corner East 32 poles to a white oak to Linders and Goods 
line South 35 E. 43 poles to an ash and beech by a branch and 
path? South 62 East 22 poles to a black oak by a steep cliff S 
32. E 32 poles to a poplar on the top of a hill thence North 47 
West 106 poles to the Beginning together with all its 
appurtenances To Have And To Hold the said fifty one acres of 
Land with its appurtenances to the said Philip Gobble and his 
heirs to the sole use and behalf of the said Philip Gobble and 
his heirs forever and the said John Zion for himself and his 
heirs doth covenant with the said Philip Gobble and his heirs 
that he the said John Zion and his heirs the said Land with all 
appurtenances unto the said Philip Gobble and his heirs against 
all pr ---- whatever will forever ass-and defend.  In Witness 
whereof the said John Zion hath hereunto subscribed his name and 
affixed his seal the day and year above written.
