Waterman of the county and state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said George Goodman & Susan his wife for and in consideration of thirty six dollars in hand paid do bargain and sell unto the said L. L. Waterman and his heirs one certain tract or parcel of land lying on the ridge on the N side of the land of L. L. Waterman on the Kentucky road and in the county of Washington aforesaid and bounded as followeth. Beginning at a small red oak & hickory on the No side of the ridge on the line of Christley Fleenors land, S 23 (degrees) E 42 poles to a dead white oak corner to L. L. Waterman's land and with his lines S 61 (degrees) W 68 poles to a white oak on the side of a ridge, corner to Waterman's land thence over the ridge N 13 (degrees) W 42 poles to a white oak thence to the Beginning 46 poles with all its appurtenances To Have and To Hold the said tract or parcel of land with with all its appurtenances unto said L. L. Waterman and his heirs to the sole use and behoof of him the said Waterman and his heirs forever. And the said George Goodman for himself and his heirs doth covenant with the said Waterman & his heirs that the said Goodman & his heirs the said tract or parcel of land with all its appurtenances unto the said L. L. Waterman and his heirs against the claims of all persons whomsoever shall Warrant & will forever defend. In witness whereof the said G. Goodman and Susan his wife have hereunto subscribed their names & affixed their seals the day and year first above written. Signed, sealed & delivered in presence of John Corry George Goodman (Signature and seal) Peter Minich Susan Goodman (Signature and seal) Robert Davis Washington County to wit, We Peter Minich & Robert Davis justices of the peace in the county aforesaid & state of Virginia do hereby certify that Susan Goodman the wife of George Goodman parties to a certain deed bearing date on the fifth day of January 1830 and hereunto annexed personally appeared before us in our county aforesaid and being examined by us privily & apart from her husband & having the deed aforesaid fully explained to her she the said Susan Goodman acknowledged the same to be her act & deed & declared that she had willingly signed sealed & delivered the same & that she wished not to retract it.
