Barnes ABINGDON -- Mr. Jerry AllenBarnes, 66, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, in James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home, Tenn. Jerry was a native of Kansas and was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Maxine Anderson Barnes; his wife, Margaret Barnes; and a sister, Sharon Marlene Butler. He served in the U.S. Army and was a retired steamfitter with Local Union 538, Johnson City. Jerry was a loving father to Dawnna JeanBarnes Hale and husband,Waverly, of Macon, Ga., Deborah Darlene Barnes Lindsay and husband, Ross, of Oxford, Mich., and Marcie Maxine Barnes Carico and husband, Wayne, of Abingdon. Jerry was a loving brother to Bobby L. Barnes of Abingdon; and a loving grandfather to Zackery and Chyna Carico, Trevor, Austin and Garrett Hale and Joshua and Jenna Lindsey. The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at 2 p.m. in Farris Cremation and Funeral Center, located on the grounds of Forest Hills Memory Gardens, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA (276-623-2727) with Eddy Craft, minister, and Bill Nelson, minister, officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with military honors to be rendered by the Highlands Fellowship Veterans Honor Color Guard. The family will receive friends Friday from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 12:30-2 p.m. at Farris Cremation and Funeral Center, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon.
